HPE SimpliVity Solution
HPE SimpliVity provides a scalable, modular building block of x86 resources that delivers all the functionality of traditional IT infrastructure—including hypervisor, compute, storage and data protection—in a single device, with a unified administrative interface. The District deployed three 2U HPE SimpliVity nodes in its main data center and a fourth HPE SimpliVity node at a disaster
recovery site.

Benefits
HPE SimpliVity’s efficient data protection capabilities enable rapid backup and recovery within and between data centers. “With our old system we were doing weekly backups, and we were only backing up data, not servers. If a server crashed we had to rebuild it from scratch.” explains Trimm. “With HPE SimpliVity we back up all our servers and data—locally and remotely— every night. And it takes only minutes to back up or recover a VM and all of its data.”

HPE SimpliVity’s data efficiencies also help the District conserve storage capacity and save money. “We kept expanding the expensive EMC SAN to support data growth. We were up to 22 TB and just about maxed out,” recalls Trimm. “With HPE SimpliVity we’re using just 9.8 TB of storage and we still have plenty of capacity left for growth.”
